Emmons County Housing Authority
The Emmons County Housing Authority was established under Section 23-11 of the North Dakota Century Code to provide safe and sanitary accommodations to the elderly, handicapped and low-income families. The Housing Authority is governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners who are appointed to five-year terms by the Emmons County Board of Commissioners.
The Housing Authority mission is to promote adequate and affordable housing, economic opportunity and a suitable living environment free from discrimination by the efficient use of public funding to provide rental assistance and to partner with other public, non-profit and private entities in the development of housing and other related services.
The Emmons County Housing Authority operates and administers subsidized housing with funding provided by the United States Department of Housing & Urban Development. The Housing Authority currently provides 7 Housing Choice Vouchers and 15 public housing units.
The Emmons County Housing Authority owns 15 - 2 and 3 bedroom units in Linton. The units are bi-level with the living areas on the top floor and the sleeping rooms on the bottom level. To be eligible a family's income cannot exceed 80% of the median income for Emmons County. Rent is equal to 30% of income and includes all utilities.
The Emmons County Housing Authority also has 7 Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers which allows eligible families to select housing of their choice and the Housing Authority pays the difference between 30% of families income and contract rent directly to the landlord.
